This member of the Pedaliaceae family was described by Jean-Henri Humbert in 1962. It is found on Madagascar, growing in a well drained soil with lots of water and some sun. The stem can grow up to 30 centimetres in diameter, the whole bush will grow from two to 3,5 meters height. The flowers are white or light pink with pink stripes. The genera is named for the Uncarina tribe of Madagascar. The species name means 'bearing stars' for the fruits. A flower I found on Madagascar - outside a small airstrip. More from that Madagascarian plant. Close-up of the flower by Susan Ford Collins.
