This member of the Crassulaceae family was given this name by Hellmut R. Toelken in 1978. It is found in the southern Namibia and western South Africa, growing in a well drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The stem can grow up to ten centimetres in diameter. The whole plant can reach for 50-80 centimetres. The flowers are yellow to orange.
The genera name is an anagram of Cotyledon; a closely-related genus. The species name after Dr. Nathaniel Wallich, early 19th century Danish plant hunter, botanist and physician.
