TULBAGHIA MONTANA

This member of the Alliaceae family was given this name by Canio G. Vosa in 1977. It is found in the heights of Drakensberg in South Africa, into Lesotho, growing in a well drained soil with some organic matter and some water and lots of sun. The rhizome can grow to two centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to 18 centimetres in height. The flowers are greyish white, green and orange-brown. The genera is named after Ryk Tulbagh, governor of the Cape of Good Hope. The species for its occurrence in the mountains. ') Accordantly to the latest taxonomic system; APG IV 2016, Alliaceae is now part of the Amaryllidaceae.
