This member of the Lamiaceae family was given this name by Leslie Edward Wastell Codd in 1961. It is found in north-eastern South Africa, growing in a well drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The plant will raise for up to one meter. The flowers are purple to pink. The genera name after George Thorncroft, 1857 – 1934, an English who was interested in flowers. The species after its succulent appearance - for that genera. After having seen the plant my selves, I lean to the conclusion; it is not a caudiciform, although it have slightly swollen roots.
