TENICROA MULTIFOLIA

This member of the Hyacinthaceae family was given this name by Anna Amelia Obermeyer in 1981. It is found in South Africa and Namibia, growing in a well drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The bulb will grow up to four centimetres in diameter, the slim spiral leaves will reach 15 centimetres in length. The flowers are white to pale pink with a maroon outer.

The genera name puzzles me. Teni means 'brest' or 'mouth', -croa? The species name means 'many leaves'. *) Accordantly to the latest taxonomic system; APG IV 2016, Hyacinthaceae is now part of the Asparagaceae. The flower by Cameron McMaster.
