This member of the Talinacaea family was given this name by Roger Charles Carolin in 1985. It is found in north-western Argentina and Bolivia, growing in a well drained soil or even grit with some water and some to lots of sun. The caudex can grow to one or two centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to seven centimetres in height. The flowers are pale yellow to yellow.

The genera name is derived from the Senegalese name for a certain species in Senegal. The species name for the vegetation it is found in; puna. This might be a winter-grower. A plant with exposed caudex from Zelenelisty.cz.
