STEPHANIA TUBEROSA

This member of the Menispermaceae family was given this name by Lewis Leonard Forman, published in 2007. It is found on the coast of Queensland in Australia, growing in a well drained mix of clay and organic debris with some to lots of water and some sun. The caudex can grow to 50 or even 90 centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to four to six metres in height. The flowers are reddish brown.

The genera name after Stephan Ladislaus Endlicher, 1804-1849, an Austrian botanist who formulated a major system of plant classification. The species name after the tuberous caudex. Male flowers from Csiro.
