This member of the Gesneriaceae family was given this name by Karl Fritsch in 1894. It's found in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. Give it some drained soil, some water and keep it in light shade. The bulb will grow to ten centimetres, the stems to 80 centimetres. It's grows as a garden-plant for its fine white flowers, and can be reproduced both by seeds and caudex-dividing. The genera is named after Wilhelm Sinning,1792–1874, a gardener of the Botanische Gärten der Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. The species name after the 'tube-flower'.
