This member of the Gesneriaceae family was given this name by Harold Emery Moore Jr. in 1973. It is found in the south-eastern Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, growing in a rich and well drained soil with quite some water water and little to some sun. The caudex can grow to eight centimetres or more in diameter, the entire plant to 40 centimetres in height. The flowers are red with a yellow throat. The genera is named after Wilhelm Sinning,1792–1874, a gardener of the Botanische Gärten der Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. The species name from Latin 'tuber', translate to swelling, and that will be of the root. Another plant by Mauro Peixoto, Brazilplants.com.
