SINNINGIA MUSCICOLA

This member of the Gesneriaceae family was given this name by Alain P. Chautems, T. Lopes and Mauro Peixoto in 2011. It is found in the vicinity of Rio das Pedras, south-western Brazil, growing in a well drained soil or moss with quite some water and some sun sun. The caudex can grow to one centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to three centimetres in height. The flowers are lavender to pale purple. The genera is named after Wilhelm Sinning,1792–1874, a gardener of the Botanische Gärten der Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn.
