This member of the Gesneriaceae family was given this name by Hans Joachim Wiehler in 1975. It if found in the heights around Sao Paulo, growing in a rich but well drained soil with some water and some to lots of sun. I think the caudex can grow to ten centimetres, maybe more, and the whole plant into a 40 centimetre high bush. The flowers are dark orange to red. The genera is named after Wilhelm Sinning,1792–1874, a gardener of the Botanische Gärten der Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. The species name means 'magnificent'.
