This member of the Gesneriaceae family was given this name by Alain P. Chautems and Josiene Rossini in 2011. It is found in Santa Teresa Municipality, in the Espirito Santo region of south-eastern Brazil, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some sun. The caudex can grow to twelve centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to 20 centimetres in height. The flowers have red lobes and a cream-colored throats. The genera is named after Wilhelm Sinning,1792–1874, a gardener of the Botanische Gärten der Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. The species name in honour of Helio de Queiroz Boudet Fernandes, director of the Mello Leitão Museum in Santa Teresa, who found the plant.
