SINNINGIA GUTTATA

This member of the Gesneriaceae family was given this name by John Lindley in 1827. It is found in south-eastern Brazil, growing in a rich soil with plenty of water and some sum to lots of sun. I think the caudex can grow to eight centimetres, and the whole plant can grow to 40 centimetres. The flowers are white with plenty of maroon small spots. The genera is named after Wilhelm Sinning,1792–1874, a gardener of the Botanische Gärten der Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. The species name means spotted.
