This member of the Gesneriaceae family is found in eastern Brazil. It was given this name by Hans Joachim Wiehler in 1978. It doesn't need much water, but a lots of sun. The flowers are red. The caudex will grow to eight centimetres or way more, the stem to 40 centimetres. I got the seeds from Tsuh Yang in New York. He found them in Rio de Janeiro, RJ State, Brazil 2001. He writes: "...as for bulbosa's tuber, it is light coloured (sort of like ginger root) and it grows on rocks in beaches of Rio de Janeiro. Some of those I saw, were at least 5 kgs, very big". The genera is named after Wilhelm Sinning,1792–1874, a gardener of the Botanische Gärten der Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. The species name referring to the bulbs. Sub-family: Gesnerioideae, Tribe: Gloxineae. Photo by Ron Myhr, Gesneriads.info.
