This member of the Gesneriaceae family was given this name by Hans Joachim Wiehler in 1975. It if found in southern Brazil and Paraguay, growing in rich soil or even rock cracks with some water and some to lots of sun. The caudex can grow to eight centimetres, the stems to 50 or even 80 centimetres height. The flowers are from bright orange to red, and some in culture are yellow. The genera is named after Wilhelm Sinning,1792–1874, a gardener of the Botanische Gärten der Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. The species name means 'combined' or 'clustered'.
