This member of the Pedaliaceae family was described by Heinrich Gustav Adolf Engler. It is found in Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya and Tanzania, growing in a well drained soil or grit with some water and quite some sun. It will raise to three meters, and the flowers are usually white.

The genera name means 'Sesamun bush' a member of the same family. The species is named after Walter Carl Otto Busse,1868 – 1933, a German botanist. A wild plant from Centre for Climate Change and Restoration of Land.
