SESAMOTHAMNUS BENGUELLENSIS

This member of the Pedaliaceae family was given this name by Friedrich Martin Josef Welwitsch in 1869. It is found in south western Africa, more specific Angola, Namibia and South Africa, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some to lots of sun. The fatten stem can reach 30 to 60 centimetres in diameter, the flat bush can reach 150 or even 300 centimetres in height and a couple of metres in diameter. The flowers are from white to pale pink.

The genera name means 'Sesamun bush' a member of the same family. The species is named after the Benguella Current, passing southern Africa on the western coast.
