This member of the Hyacinthaceae family was given this name by John Gilbert in 1874. It is from Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe, where it grows in well-drained soil with some water and sun. The flowers are small and white, and it can be reproduced by dividing the bulbs as well.
