This member of the Hyacinthaceae family was described by Rune Bertil Nordenstam in 1970.
It is found in southern South Africa, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some sun. The bulbs can grow up to five centimetres in diameter, the whole plant will grow up to 25 centimetres. The flowers are white to pale yellow.
The genera name after Rhadamanthus, son of Zeus and Europa. Not a botanist at all. The species name means 'from the mountains'. *) Accordantly to the latest taxonomic system; APG IV 2016, Hyacinthaceae is now part of the Asparagaceae.
