This member of the Pedaliaceae family was described by Nicholas Edward Brown in 1906. It is found in Botswana, southern Mozambique, Namibia, northern South Africa and Zimbabwe, growing in a semi-drained soil with some water and sun. The stem will grow from three to ten centimetres, the branches reaches op to 30 centimetres. The flowers wary from yellow to yellow/dark red. It can be reproduced both by cuttings and seeds.

The genera name from Latin ptero; 'winged' and Latin discus; 'disc'. The species name after the area it was found in; Ngamiland in Botswana. Photo: Maddy Lehmann.
