This member of the Anacardiaceae family was given this name by Faustino Miranda in 1961. It is found in Guerrero, south-western Mexico, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some sun. The tree can grow to three or four metres in height, with thick branches. The flowers are filiforme - thread-like. Any further information will be appreciated, please E-m@il.me.

The genera name from Greek; pseudo; 'false' and Smodingium, another member of the family. The species name after Fred Alexander Barkley, 1908–1989, an American botanist. A young plant by Ivan Cupic.
