This member of the Hyacinthaceae family was given this name by Franz Speta in 1982. It is found from western Europe across the Mediterranean to northern Africa. It is growing in a well drained, but rich soil with some water and lots of sun. The caudex can grow to three centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to six centimetres in height, 20 with the inflorescence. The flowers are from Mauve over Lilac, Blue to Pinkish Purple.
