This member of the Cactaceae was described by August Heinrich Rudolf Grisebach in 1879. It is found in Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina. Growing in a well-drained soil, some humidity, some water and not too much sun. The bush will grow to six meters, the flowers are pink. It can be reproduced both by cuttings and seeds. The genus n amed after the French astronomist Nicolas Claude Fabri de Peiresc. The species name from the local vernacular name; sacharosa. This might NOT be a caudiciform as Pereskia diaz-romeroana underneath. SubFamily: Pereskioideae. Pereskia diaz-romeroana has caudex. A seedling.
