This member of the Peperomiaceae* family was given this name by Ricardo Callejas Posada in 2011. It is found in Belize, growing on limestone blocks of small streams with plenty of water and some sun. The caudex can grow to 0,3 centimetres in diameter, 0,5 centimetres long, the entire plant to five centimetres in height. The flowers are white.

The genera name means 'pepper-like', not as to appearance but as to kinship. The species name is derived from the type locality in the department of Toledo, Belize. ')Accordantly to the latest taxonomic system; APG IV 2016 is Peperomiaceae now part of the Piperaceae.
