This member of the Peperomiaceae* family was given this name by Guido Mathieu in 2011. It is found in the oak-forests of Putla, growing on the bare rocks with lots of water and no or little sun. The caudex can grow to one centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to ten centimetres in height. The flowers are greenish.
The genera name means 'pepper-like', not as to appearance but as to kinship. The species name refers to the town of Putla in south-western Oaxaca. So far, the species has only been collected in this area. ')Accordantly to the latest taxonomic system; APG IV 2016 is Peperomiaceae now part of the Piperaceae.
