This member of the Peperomiaceae family was given this name by Guido Mathieu and Guillermo Pino in 2011. It is found in Ancash in northern Peru, growing in a clayish soil with quite some water and little or no sun. The caudex can grow to three and a half centimetre in diameter. The entire plant reach ten or even fifteen centimetres in height, the whitish green or pinkish flowers adding the last five centimetres.
The genera name means 'pepper-like', not as to appearance but as to kinship. The species name after the nearby village; Ocros. A highland area, around 3100 metres. ') Accordantly to the latest taxonomic system; APG IV 2016 is Peperomiaceae now part of the Piperaceae.
