PEPEROMIA DOLABELLA

This member of the Peperomiaceae family was described by Werner Rauh and Myron William Kimnach in 1987. It is found in Peru, growing in a well drained soil with little to some water and some sun. The caudex can grow to three or even five centimetres, and the succulent leaves won't grow to more than three centimetres in height, growing directly from the caudex. The flowers are pale green.

The genera name means 'pepper-like', not as to appearance but as to kinship. The species name from Latin dola; 'hatchet' and bella; 'wars'. Odd name for this little cute plant! ') Accordantly to the latest taxonomic system; APG IV 2016 is Peperomiaceae now part of the Piperaceae.
