PELARGONIUM PILOSELLIFOLIUM

This member of the Geraniaceae family was given this name by Ernst Gottlieb von Steudel in 1841. It is found along the south coast of South Africa, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some to lots of sun. The caudex can grow to three centimetres in diameter, 5,5 centimetres long, the entire plant from fifteen to 32 centimetres in height, included the inflorescences. The genera name from Greek; pelargos; 'stork' for the ripening fruits, which resembles the bills of storks. The species name referring to the hairiness of the leaves: pilosus.
