This member of the Geraniaceae family was given this name by William Henry Harvey in 1860. It is found in the south of South Africa, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some sun. The caudex can grow to four centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to seven centimetres in height. The flowers are white and pale yellow.

The genera name from Greek; pelargos; 'stork' for the ripening fruits, which resembles the bills of storks. The species name means 'yellowish-white' for the flowers. The caudex by Vered A. Mann.
