This member of the Geraniaceae family was given this name by Robert Sweet in 1822. It is found in the southern half of Africa, growing in well-drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The caudex will grow to five centimetres in diameter, the whole plant can reach 65 centimetres height. The flowers are pink, and the plant can be reproduced both by seeds and cuttings.
The genera name from Greek; pelargos; 'stork' for the ripening fruits, which resembles the bills of storks. The species name means 'dull yellow', and then I'm lost. Photo of the caudex by Vered A. Mann.
