This member of the Geraniaceae family was given this name by Ib Friis and Michael George Gilbert in 1976. It is found in Ethiopia, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some to lots of sun. The swollen stem can grow to three centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to 24 centimetres in height. The flowers are red. The genera name from Greek; pelargos; 'stork' for the ripening fruits, which resembles the bills of storks. The species name after Borana Awraja in Ethiopia.
