This member of the Asteraceae family was given this name by John Jacob Lavranos in 2002. It is found in north-western South Africa, growing in a well drained soil or grit with some water and some sun. I think the caudex can grow to five centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to twelve centimetres in height. The flowers are yellow.
The genera name from the Greek othone, 'a linen cloth or napkin', in allusion to the downy covering of some of the earlier known species. The species is named after Petr Pavelka, 1971-,a Czech writer, botanist, and taxonomist, who has worked extensively on the Crassulaceae family, who collected it in 1993 in the north of the Cape Province near the town of Steinkopf. I have not been able to get it confirmed, but I expect this to be a winter grower in the wild. A large plant from Sukulentyhusner.cz.
