This member of the Anacardiaceae family was given this name by Urs Eggli in 1995. It is found around Ihosy in inland southern Madagascar, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some sun. The trunk can grow to 40 centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to six metres in height. The flowers are cream coloured.
The genera name from Latin operculum; 'little lid' and Greek karyum; 'nut', referring to the lidded, nut-like seeds. The species is named for the long hairs. From Africa-seeds.com. And a little plant from Euphorbi-jans-sukkulenten-shop.com.
