This member of the Amaryllidaceae family was given this name by Mariano Lagasca y Segura in 1816. It is found in coastal western Morocco, growing in a well drained limestone/organic soil mix with some water and some to lots of sun. The caudex can grow to six centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to 25 centimetres in height. The flowers are white. The genera name from the Greek word meaning 'to numb' or 'numbness'. The species name after Prof. Pierre M. A. Broussonet, 1761-1807, a French botanist and zoologist, collecting in Morocco and the Canary Islands. Wild plants by Fouad Msanda, Teline.fr.
