This member of the Moringaceae family was given this name by Moritz Kurt Dinter and Alwin Berger in 1914. It is found in northern Namibia and south-western Angola, growing on rocks or in a well drained soil. It requires little water, but can cope with quite a lot. It need lots of sun to fatten up. The stem can grow to one meter in diameter and the whole tree can reach seven meters. The flowers are white.
