This member of the Moringaceae family was given this name by Bernard Verdcourt in 1985. It is found in northern Kenya and perhaps in Ethiopia? It is growing in a well drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The caudex - or rather stem - can grow to 20 centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to 15 metres in height. The flowers are from pale pink to wine red. It was found by Allan Radcliffe-Smith and Peter Bally in 1972.

The genera name from the Malabar vernacular name; Moringo. The species name arborea means tree. It does tend to be a bit skinny by age. The flowers by Mark E. Olson.
