This member of the Euphorbiaceae family was given this name by Peter René Oscar Bally in 1959. It is found in Kenya, growing in a well drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The caudex can grow to five centimetres, the branches up to 35 centimetres.
The genera name from the Greek monos; 'one' and -aden; 'gland', referring to the solitary gland.
The species name means 'three-nerved, three-veined', from the base of a leaf. Photo by Brad Johnson.
