This member of the Euphorbiaceae family was described by Susan Holmes Carter in 1987. It is only found in the Iringa Province in Tanzania, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some sun. It will grow up to three meters height with a 25 centimetres stem. The flowers are greenish-white with a yellow centre.
The genera name from the Greek monos; 'one' and -aden; 'gland', referring to the solitary gland.
The species name means 'spectacular' for the flowers.
