This member of the Euphorbiaceae family was described by Peter René Oscar Bally in 1959. It is found in the Tanganyika area, growing in grit or a well drained soul with little water and some sun. The caudex can reach three centimetres in diameter, the entire plant eight centimetres high. The flowers are white to greenish with yellow pollen centre.
The genera name from the Greek monos; 'one' and -aden; 'gland', referring to the solitary gland.
The species name from Latin: pseudo; 'like' and racemosa; 'in racemes' or 'clustered'.
