This member of the Euphorbiaceae family was given this name by Peter René Oscar Bally in 1959. It is found in Tanzania, Zambia and Zaïre, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some sun. The caudex can grow to seven centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to fifteen centimetres in height. The flowers are pink to red - although some seems to be rather white....
The genera name from the Greek monos; 'one' and -aden; 'gland', referring to the solitary gland.
The species name means "Having veins or nerves" for the red lines in the leaves. And its flower from Westafricanplants.senckenberg.de. This is a herbarium specimen.
