This member of the Euphorbiaceae family was given this name by Susan Carter in 1987. It is found in Tanzania, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some to lots of sun. The caudex can grow to three centimetres, the stem up to 30 centimetres. The flowers are cream coloured.
The genera name from the Greek monos; 'one' and -aden; 'gland', referring to the solitary gland.
