This member of the Aizoaceae family was described by Martin Heinrich Gustav Schwantes in 1928. It is found in southern South Africa. It grows in a grit or other well drained soil with little water and lots of sun. The caudex will grow up to eight centimetres in diameter, the plant raises up to fifteen centimetres. The flowers are white and pale pink.

The genera name for Prof. Dr. Hermann Wilhelm Rudolf Marloth, 1855-1931, a German botanist. The species name from Uniondale, Eastern Cape, where it is found. Photo fromEnjoysucculents.com.
