This member of the Hyacinthaceae family was described by Winsome Fanny Baker in 1978.

It is found in Namaqualand, South Africa, growing in sand with little to some water and lots of sun. The bulb will grow to three centimetres, the whole plant up to 20 centimetres. The flowers are pink.

The genera name is in honour of the Swiss botanist Prof. Werner de Lachenal (Warnerus de la Chenal)1739-1800. The species name as it originates from Namaqualand. *) Accordantly to the latest taxonomic system; APG IV 2016, Hyacinthaceae is now part of the Asparagaceae.
