This member of the Hyacinthaceae family was given this name by Selmar Schönland in 1910. It is found in southern South Africa, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some to lots of sun. The bulb can grow to two centimetres, the plant up to 20 centimetres tall and the inflorescence with the greenish white and yellow flowers up to 40 centimetres.
The genera name is in honour of the Swiss botanist Prof. Werner de Lachenal (Warnerus de la Chenal), 1739-1800. The species name as it originates from Angola - which I can't find records of. *) Accordantly to the latest taxonomic system; APG IV 2016, Hyacinthaceae is now part of the Asparagaceae.
