This member of the Asteraceae family was described by Joseph Dalton Hooker. It is found in Natal Province, South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe, growing in a well drained soil with some water and little or no sun. Others claim it preferring full sun, but I have only found it in the shadows in forests. The caudex can grow up to five centimetres in diameter, the whole plant can grow up to 40 centimetres. The flowers are scarlet. The genera is named after the German zoologist, Dr Klein,1685-1759, and fulgens, means 'shining' and referring to the vibrant colour of the flowers. The grit is five millimetres.
