Give it a well-drained soil and lots of water in summer. The branches fall off in dormancy. The caudex grows to 30 centimetres, the stems reach 60 centimetres. The flowers are pink, and the seed-capsules "pop".

The genera name means 'impatience', referring to the fruits which pops when ripe and touched. The species is named after the swollen root. Beautiful flowers. Sweet sap from glands on the leaves and stems. The fruits.
