This member of the Iridaceae family was given this name by Peter Goldblatt and John C. Manning in 2015. It is found on the Hantamsberg plateau in south-western South Africa, growing in a clayish soil with some water and lots of sun. The corm can grow to one centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to 15 centimetres in height. The flowers are white and greyish brown, and found at night.
The species name from Latin; hesperius; 'towards evening' after the time of flowering. The species name means 'forming threads' for the flowers. This is a winter grower in the wild. Scanned flowers by P. Goldblatt John C Manning.
