GLADIOLUS SCULLYI

This member of the Iridaceae family was described by John Gilbert Baker in 1892. It is found in the southern part of South Africa, growing in sand or other well drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The bulbs are three centimetres, the whole plant 28 centimetres. The genera means 'little sword', referring to the leaves. The species is named after Reginald William Scully, 1858-1935.
