GETHYLLIS VILLOSA

This member of the Amaryllidaceae family was given this name by Carl Peter Thunberg in 1782. It is found in south-western South Africa, growing in a well drained sandy or clayish soil with little water and some sun. The caudex can grow to 2,5 centimetres in diameter, the entire plant from four to fifteen centimetres in height. The flowers are white to pink.
