This member of the Asclepiadaceae* family was given this name by Nicholas Edward Brown in 1908.
It grows in southern Namibia and western Africa, in a well drained soil with some water and some sun. The caudex will get op to 60 cm in diameter, and the plant reaches two meters in height.
The genera name after Charles Focke, 1802-1856, a Dutch botanist, collecting especially in Surinam. The species name from the Bushman vernacular name: Kambroe. *)Accordantly to the latest taxonomic system; APG IV 2016, Asclepiadaceae is now part of the Apocynaceae. The wide leave form.
